Workshop: Digital Imaging for Medievalists

Tony Harris, Digital Imaging Specialist and PhD Candidate, Department of Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic, University of Cambridge, UK

This workshop will begin with a primer on digitisation looking at questions such as: ‘What is “resolution”?’, ‘What do we really mean by “colour” in the digital space?’, ‘What happens when I “scale” a digital image?’ and, ‘What digital images will display and print correctly?’. The workshop will then discuss particular problems and solutions associated with the digital capture, storage, manipulation, and digital reproduction of medieval resources. Participants are encouraged to bring their digital problems for a group discussion and ‘self-help discussions’ during the day.

*The workshop will take place at the Le Patourel Room, 4.06, Parkinson Building, University of Leeds and start with tea and coffee at 10:00 am. Everyone is welcome but spaces will be limited. Please register via Eventbrite.
